| Talmath Lakai - Owner
Talmath has become a pioneer in understanding, building, and teaching anything mud
in the alternative building realm in the U.S.
After helping to create some of the first strawbale houses in his hometown, Crestone Colorado, he pressed on to perfect his skill and trade; in turn he has built some of the nicest.
Talmath also has spent many years working with papercrete, pumuscrete, weight baring post and beam strawbale, cordwood- and cob-construction, and ferro cement.
He is also certified in photovoltaic installation, and has worked with micro/hydro electric power, wind generation as well as whole system designs for alternative, innovative home building.
Talmath has taught a series of summer workshops (at The Lama Foundation, and at The Colorado Strawbale Assocation) and has offered his knowledge to many others on new and better ways to save and build. Also, the Crestone Energy Fair held some of Talmath's presentations, at which he directed for 4 years as well.
Currently, Talmath and his crew have completed over 38,000 square feet of adobe floor and have successfully applied earthen plaster in over 25 homes. Always focussed on work, he is overseeing numerous local contracts, as well as floors next year in Canada.
Spare time? Yes, and it's spent for and with the community; the Crestone Volunteer Fire Department for 10 years, as well as being the Fire Chief for 3.
